Students are unique. They vary in character, personality, intellect,
and ability. There are so many different ways of learning and
comprehending, it’s safe to say that although some individuals might have similarities, they are never alike.
In a classroom, each student has their own way of learning and
retaining information. Some students excel, some do well, and others get by, while a small percentage is “stuck”. No matter what category a student falls in, tutoring benefits them all. At Enhance Learning Center, we treat all students uniquely and meet their individual needs.
Benefits of Tutoring
Due to teacher cutbacks and increasing class sizes, students are receiving less individualized attention in the classroom. In addition, many homes now require both parents to work, leaving less time to assist kids in homework or studying. What’s more frustrating is the advancement of technology that young students are exposed to. While this should be a positive element, it actually can be quite distracting to many students in the classroom as well as at home. With all these elements combines, it’s no surprise that many students have a difficult time excelling in school.
Self-Confidence in Asking Questions
Imagine one teacher and 28 students. The teacher is giving a lesson on geometry, a topic that is overwhelming to many students. Sam is paying attention but is clearly lost and has the desire to raise his hand for clarification on what exactly is a polygon. However, after looking around at the other 27 students who all seem to fully comprehend the lesson, Sam changes his mind. He remains slumped in his chair and counts down the minutes to recess.
Morale of the story: No matter how attentive and conscientious the teacher may be, it is still intimidating for many students to raise their hand and ask for help.Individual or group tutoring allows timid students to require and ask questions without feeling shy or awkward. There are no limits and no such thing as a “stupid question”.
We often hear teachers remind students to study for an upcoming quiz or test.At home parents are constantly telling their kids to go to their room and study. Study! Study! Did you ever stop to think that perhaps some kids just don’t know how to study? At Enhance Learning Center, our teachers educate students how to learn. Since learning is individualized, our teachers focus on students’
strengths. Does your child learn better through hearing (auditory learning) or through seeing (visual learning)? Our teachers help students find out what their best learning strategy is.
As committed as teachers are, they are limited by time, class size, and resources to give students the personalized one-on-one attention they desire. Enhance Learning Center provides students with complete 100% individualized attention to teach, explain, re-iterate, and answer questions. Students will often throw their hands up in frustration that they just don’t understand! If this
frustration isn’t attended to in a classroom, it will definitely be addressed in a tutoring session. Our teachers won’t give up until the student is confident and “gets it”.
